Will a pest control company remove a house mouse?
While pest control services claim that they are able to effectively remove house mice from your residential home, it's not always true.
Why?
Pest control services are not shy that they use substances such as poison to get rid of rodents and other vermin
such as house mice. The problem with poison is that it is not the most effective method to get rid of mice. And
whether you are the one who decides to use it yourself or a professional, the actual substance itself is unreliable
and potentially harmful to those living in the residence.
Poisons are unpredictable substances. Sure, they can kill the rodents however, poison is not necessarily fast and it
tends to be a hit or miss. If you have pets or young children, it is even more of a risk to try and use poison because
if the poison is left somewhere accessible to either pets or children they potentially ingest them instead of the mice.
It is also possible that even if the poison should be ingested by the right creature (the mouse in this case), it may
take a long time for the poison to go through the mouse's system and actually kill them. A mouse can go on for days with
the poison in it's system and an unhealthy, poisoned mouse a bigger threat than a healthy mouse. The mouse can become
unpredictable and risk being contaminated by the poison as well as the mouse slowly dies.
And when the mouse does die, they don't just drop dead in the most accessible areas. Remember, they like to scurry around
in the attic, wall spaces, under porches, etc. and you have no way of knowing where they will end up. By the time you do
figure it out, your house will be smelling of dead mouse which is rather unpleasant.
What you can do about it?
There definitely alternatives to using poison. If you do happen to use a pest control service, ask if they can use methods
other than poisoning. Ask them to use traps and ask whether their disposal policy is either to euthanize the mice or do they
release them properly into the wild. These kinds of questions are important to ask if you are very particular of they way the
professionals take care of the situation.
Pest control services can indeed remove mice however, some can do sloppy jobs. It is important to find a
service that fits your standards of animal pest removal so that you are 100% sure that they are doing a good
job. But before you can insure that they do a good job, you need to brush up and research on some of the common
methods that they employ. Once you are well equipped, then only can you go about finding the right pest control service for you. Good luck!
